Life on the Land
Logline: An ageing farmers wife who once dreamt of saving the world might finally get her chance when she discovers man-eating aliens living on their land.
Synopsis: ‘Life on the Land’ is a sci-fi horror film, set against the vast and brutal landscape of drought-struck rural Australia. Sal and John are aging farmers, holding on to their land and livelihood by the tips of their fingers. Sal, once dreamed of going to university and saving the world through science but now cleans toilets in the country hospital for minimum wage. John, a mild misanthrope who prefers the company of sheep to people, is angry that his attempt to escape society has been foiled by climate change. Now to add insult to injury, the council has allowed Telstra to install new 5G mobile towers on their land. Or so Sal and John think, until they discover seven-foot tall, carnivorous extraterrestrial beings roaming their paddocks. Far away from the rest of the world, Sal and John must fight to save their land, their lives and all of humanity.
